Student and postdoctoral funding opportunities
Tour De Cure PHD Scholarship in Cancer Research up to 3 year funding
Cancer Council NSW is dedicated to defeating cancer by building a cancer smart community. The Cancer Epidemiology Research Unit is calling for applications for a PhD scholarship for a research project around The CLEAR Study (Cancer Lifestyle and Evaluation of Risk). The successful applicant will enrol in a PhD program at either the University of Sydney or the University of New South Wales. The research will be carried out at Cancer Council. Funding will be available in 2010.
The applicant will be expected to develop a research project, around the CLEAR Study, investigating causes of cancer. Cancer Council is particularly interested in research on the role of risk factors (particularly hormones, infectious agents and tobacco) in leading and emerging cancers.
The scholarship is open to local and overseas candidates. For overseas candidates we will only accept applications from candidates in centres with which we already have an active collaborative program, in conjunction with overseas supervisors we are already collaborating with.
The scholarship is valued at AU$25,000, to cover fees and living expenses.
For non-Australian citizens, overseas student fees apply which are about $32,000 per annum. Candidates will be responsible for arranging their own funding for overseas student fees..
